Getting started

From download to a safe agent key in a few minutes. No terminal required.

1. Install

Download Agent Master Key from the download page, unzip it, and drag Agent Master Key to your Applications folder. Open it from Applications, Spotlight, or the Dock. Because the app is signed and notarized, macOS opens it without an "unidentified developer" warning.

2. Activate your license

Your license key (format AMK-XXXXXXXX-…) arrives by email right after purchase. In the app choose Activate License (in the app menu) or open Settings → License, paste the key, and click Activate. That's a one-time step — your key is stored only in your Mac's Keychain.

3. Turn on the local service

On the Home screen, click Turn on Agent Master Key. This starts a small helper that runs only on your Mac (on 127.0.0.1) and holds your provider keys in the local vault. Approve the macOS Keychain prompt when asked — that's macOS protecting your vault.

4. Connect an app

Pick an app (start with GitHub OAuth or paste a scoped API key). Your real credential is encrypted in your Mac's Keychain — it's never uploaded to us.

5. Make a scoped agent key

On Agent Keys, create one amk_live_… key for your agent. You choose which connectors and actions it can reach. Copy the setup into Codex, Hermes, Claude, Cursor, or any MCP agent — no provider secret is copied.

6. Stay in control

Safe reads just work; risky writes wait for your approval; every action is recorded in a local, redacted audit trail. Revoke a key any time, or hit the Kill Switch to pause every agent at once.

Moving to a new Mac

Open Settings → License → Deactivate This Mac on the old Mac to free the activation, then activate the same key on the new one. Each license activates up to 3 Macs; contact support if you need a reset.

Removing everything

Uninstalling removes the app. A full clean (in the app's recovery guide) removes Agent Master Key's local state and Keychain items. Your connected provider accounts are unaffected — revoke those tokens in each provider's dashboard if you want.
